Introduction

What's Good For Tonight ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Device Identifier

Device ID: A unique identifier is generated and stored securely in your device's Keychain. This ID is used to associate you with a room session without requiring account registration or any personal login.

Room Participation Data

Room State: When you create or join a room, we store your display name, age, gender, orientation, activity preferences, and music genre preferences on our backend servers to generate group suggestions.
Voting Activity: Your votes on suggestions within a room are stored to calculate group consensus.
Room Data Retention: All room data is automatically deleted from our servers after 6 hours. No permanent profile is created.

Public Rooms & Visibility

Room Visibility: A room is private by default and joinable only via its invite code. The host can choose to make a room public, which makes it discoverable to nearby users so they can join without an invite.
Discovery by Others: While a room is public, your display name and preferences become visible to nearby people who discover and join the room, not only to friends the host invited.
Host Control: Only the host controls whether a room is public, and a public room is only discoverable for the duration of the session. Public rooms follow the same 6-hour retention rule and are removed afterwards.

Location Data

Approximate Location: With your permission, we use your approximate location to find nearby venues and activities for group suggestions. Location data is used only to query local points of interest and is not stored on our servers.
Public Room Discovery: When you browse public rooms or make a room public, your device sends its location to our servers over secure REST and WebSocket connections so we can match public rooms to you. All distance filtering happens server-side: we filter public rooms by radius for each user on the server, and we round (coarsen) coordinates before sending them to other users, so exact host or participant locations are never broadcast. This location data is processed in-session only and is not stored on our servers.

Subscription and Purchase Data

Purchase Status: If you make a subscription or in-app purchase, Apple processes the payment through your Apple ID account. The App may receive limited purchase information, such as product identifier, subscription status, renewal status, expiration date, and transaction identifiers, to unlock paid features, maintain access, prevent fraud, and provide support.
Payment Details: We do not collect or store your full payment card details. Payment processing, refunds, and billing account information are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

Advertising Data

Google AdMob: The App displays ads served by Google AdMob. Google and its partners may collect or receive device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, ad interactions, diagnostics, and related usage data to deliver, measure, limit, and improve ads.
Ad Personalisation: Depending on your consent choices and device settings, Google AdMob may use data to show personalised or non-personalised ads.

How We Use Your Information

Group Suggestions: To generate AI-powered activity and venue suggestions tailored to the preferences of everyone in your room.
Real-Time Coordination: To synchronise room state — member list, vibe level, voting — across all participants in real time via WebSocket.
Digital Purchases: To unlock paid features, verify subscription status, maintain entitlements, prevent fraud, and provide purchase-related support.
Advertising: To display, measure, prevent fraud in, and improve ads shown through Google AdMob.

Data Sharing

With Room Participants

Your display name and preferences are visible to other members of the same room for the duration of the session.
In a public room, those members may include people outside your friend group who discovered the room nearby and joined it.

We Never

Sell your personal data to third parties
Retain room or profile data beyond the 6-hour session window

Advertising Partners

We use Google AdMob to show ads in the App.
Google may process advertising data as an independent controller or service provider under its own policies.
You can review Google's advertising practices at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and manage ad personalisation in your device or Google settings.

Apple App Store

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID account.
Apple may process payment, billing, refund, tax, and transaction information under its own policies.
We may use purchase validation information from Apple only to provide and manage paid App features.

Data Storage & Security

Room data is stored on our backend and automatically purged after 6 hours.
Your device ID is stored locally in your device's Keychain and never transmitted to third parties.
Location data is transmitted over secure connections and processed transiently on our servers to filter public rooms by radius. Coordinates are coarsened (rounded) before being shared with other users, and location data is not stored on our servers.
All communication between the App and our backend uses HTTPS and secure WebSocket (WSS) connections.

Your Rights

Deletion: Room data expires automatically after 6 hours. Uninstalling the App removes your local device identifier.
Ad Controls: You can manage ad personalisation through your device settings or Google's ad settings.

Children's Privacy

What's Good For Tonight is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification.
